League for Animals and People of the Summit
LAPS' mission is literally a matter of life or death - reducing pet overpopulation and needless euthanasia of healthy animals through spay/neuter programs and providing financial assistance to low-income families for veterinary services that will assure a happy, healthy life for their pets.
As of Dec 1st, 2021 LAPS has provided funding this year for over 244 spay/neuter procedures for our local animal shelter, 400 vouchers to help citizens of Summit county defray the cost of spay/neuter procedures and over $12,000 in medical assistance.
With COVID-19 still affecting so many in our community, LAPS is offering $50 Veterinary Assistance for Routine Exams for lower income people who either live or work in Summit County. Please see the application for full details. This special financial aid program is being partially funded through a generous grant from Summit County Rotary...THANKS!
The regular application for assistance can be downloaded here and then emailed to MedicalApps@summitlaps.org or dropped off at the Animal Shelter. We will EMAIL YOU back within 24-48 hours but you must be checking your email. Please read the instructions and include ALL requested information with your application at the same time or we won't be able to review it. Must live or work in Summit County to apply. Email questions to MedicalApps@summitlaps.org Please DO NOT CALL THE ANIMAL SHELTER about LAPS applications.
If you need to see a Veterinarian, most offices are open but may have reduced hours for Coronavirus protocol, so call their office first!
LAPS also offers Discount Vouchers for spay/neuter only for any income (must pick up voucher at the Summit County Animal Shelter in Frisco and show proof of residency - or work in Summit County - no application to fill out.) Vouchers must be used at a local veterinary office.
Thanks for your cooperation and stay safe!
The board and volunteers of LAPS would like to thank the Summit County community for helping us raise over $2300 at the recent Shopping Extravaganza event. This money goes towards our very important work of helping reduce pet overpopulation and supporting our Summit County community with help with emergency help for pets.
LAPS board members were joined by members Andrea and Shannon at this very fun event Sunday in Silverthorne. Thanks for your help! Many bendable snowmen were given out for our game "get the dog collar on the cat scratching post". We also handed out biscuits from "The Enchanted Biscuit", thanks for donating Kate!

Puppy smooches go out the wonderful staff at the Shelter for providing this service and for continuing the great job they do with caring for the shelter animals.
