League for Animals and People of the Summit
L.A.P.S.' mission is literally a matter of life or death - reducing pet overpopulation and needless euthanasia of healthy animals through spay/neuter programs and providing financial assistance to low-income families for veterinary services that will assure a happy, healthy life for their pets.
Need help with some veterinarian bills? Download our Assistance Form and check out the options under "About LAPS/Programs". Must live or work in Summit County to apply.
L.A.P.S. also offers Discount Vouchers for spay/neuter only for any income (must pick up voucher at the Summit County Animal Shelter in Frisco and show proof of residency - or work in Summit County - no application to fill out.) Vouchers must be used at a local veterinary office.
The regular application for assistance can be downloaded here and then emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped off at the Animal Shelter. We will EMAIL YOU back within 24-48 hours but you must be checking your email. Please read the instructions and include ALL requested information with your application at the same time or we won't be able to review it. Email questions to email@example.com Please DO NOT CALL THE ANIMAL SHELTER about LAPS applications.
If you need to see a Veterinarian, most offices are open but may have reduced hours for Coronavirus protocol, so call their office first!
Thanks for your cooperation and stay safe!
Shopping Extravaganza at Silverthorne Outlets
Tickets are now on sale for this year's Shopping Extravaganza Social Distance Style. Because of the necessity of physical distancing, you need to schedule a time to arrive. The earlier you get your ticket, the more choice you'll have. The two-day event will take place Sat/Sun, November 7th and 8th.
Tickets are only $15.00 this year, which includes shopping coupons and a voucher for a free drink at Timberline Craft Kitchen. There will also be no need to wait around for the grand prizes at the end. You'll receive a scratch card and can claim your prize immediately. Additional scratch cards are $5.00.
**PLEASE CHOOSE "League for Animals & People of the Summit" in the dropdown list so that LAPS will receive the full benefit from your ticket purchase. For LAPS to be eligible for even more of the Shopping Extravaganza proceeds...we need 30 people to show up/check in on Nov 7-8th, so please check in during your assigned time slot.
The Summit County Animal Shelter is accepting donations of dog/cat food to distribute to needy pets in our community. To the left is a photo of where you can either leave your donations or pick up free food (1 bag per person, please) for your dog or cat at the shelter.
To access: open the left drop box and quickly select your food (the right box is still available for overnight pet drops). Keep your social distancing!
Puppy smooches go out the wonderful staff at the Shelter for providing this service and for continuing the great job they do with caring for the shelter animals.
Calendar of Events:
The Outlets at Silverthorne: TWO DAYS of shopping on Sat/Sun, Nov 7-8 and tickets are only $15!! See details below and under Event tab.
Colorado Gives Day: Tues., Dec. 8.
Make a Difference Day Update:
LAPS participated in Make A Difference Day on August 29th by cleaning up both local dog parks in Silverthorne and Breckenridge...although we hope every pet owner is doing the right thing and cleaning up after their pets at every visit!
Thank you volunteers who helped on that rainy Saturday!
Puppy smooches go out to the Outlets at Silverthorne for the 2nd Annual Barks & Brews fundraiser to benefit LAPS and the needy pets in Summit County! It was a relaxing and fun afternoon at Timberline Craft Kitchen & Cocktails with live music by The Shaky Hand String Band and lots of great door prizes from the Outlets, Angry James Brewery and Dillon Dam Brewery. Dogs are allowed on the outside patio, so while the happy pups were eating their LAPS doggie treats, their humans enjoyed a great Happy Hour that included cold brews donated by The Bakers' Brewery.
Let's Go Boating Update
Kudos to the great crew at the Dillon Marina/Town of Dillon who organized the Let's Go Boating and Virtual Marina Mutt events over Labor Day weekend! LAPS was the beneficiary and garnered over $3,000 and this year, especially, we want to thank the Marina, Town of Dillon, the pontoon captains and Captain Dan, along with all the participants and the LAPS volunteers who made this fundraiser a success!
K94K GOODIES FOR PEOPLE
Don't miss out on this year's fabulous t-shirt design or our 30th Anniversary and Silver Logo cups! If you would like to purchase any of the items pictured here, you will be able to pay with a check (or cash if you pick up in person) or use the Donate Button on our Home Page (credit card or PayPal).
We can ship merchandise, but you will need to pay the extra fees for Priority Mail (approximately $10-20, depending on weight). Email LAPS@summitlaps.org with your name/mailing address/zip and what you'd like to buy to get a final price.
THANK YOU ALL for making our 30th Anniversary K94K very special, even though it was quite different! Puppy smooches go out to Randall McKinnon for donating his exceptional talent and good humor for a really fun virtual concert to benefit LAPS.
There's still time to enjoy Randall McKinnon's Virtual concert online at https://www.facebook.com/summitlaps80443/ If you would like to "tip" Randall, please use our Donation Button at the bottom of the page. Randall has graciously donated all his tips to LAPS, so you'll be helping the animals and thanking Randall for such a great concert!
Over 80 dogs were registered for the Virtual K94K and received "Paw-ticipant" ribbons, treats and a custom t-shirt, designed and donated by Liz/Squeeze Designz for her 22nd year in a row...THANKS, LIZ!!
If you don't want to miss out on this year's fabulous t-shirt, 30th Anniversary and Silver Logo cup, etc...please go to the K94K Event tab and take a look at the available swag to buy...all proceeds benefit LAPS.
LAPS decided that this year was going to be tough on everyone so we chose not to hold a virtual silent auction and ask merchants for donations. We wanted to celebrate 30 years with our long-time cash sponsors too, so our 2020 shirts list all of them, along with our 2020 cash sponsors. We can't thank them enough for their continued support!
Special thanks goes out to our wonderful Animal Shelter for always supporting LAPS and allowing us to use the Shelter for Randall's concert and swag pickup!
More thanks go out to A&A Pet Supply for the tennis balls and some of the doggie treats and to The Enchanted Biscuit for donating her yummy treats too!
Kudos to Krystal 93 and the Summit Daily for their part in promoting our K94K this year.
