Exciting new addition to our weekend virtual event! Randall McKinnon, a local favorite, will be giving a live stream concert from outside the Summit County Animal Shelter on Sunday, August 2nd starting at 9 am. Join us LIVE on our Facebook page for some great tunes and appearances by adoptable shelter animals. You will have a chance to make a donation and Randall has generously donated all "tips" also, so ALL proceeds will benefit LAPS. Thank you Randall and thank you participants!

NEW LAPS COVID19 $50 Veterinary Assistance
LAPS has started a new assistance program to help Locals affected by COVID19, who live or work (or worked) in Summit County. We are offering $50 in assistance for Veterinary bills with a simple application to be used for any wellness care, immunizations, etc. The longer financial assistance application for more extensive care is still available also. The $50 will be available until August 31 with the possibility of extension.
The application should be completed and emailed to email@example.com
It can only be used at the local veterinary offices or at Park County Animal Hospital.
The application is available for download here.
(Note - if you have trouble downloading the application, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for an application to be emailed to you.)
Due to the closure of the Summit County Animal Shelter during the Coronavirus threat, all applications and questions for LAPS financial assistance must be emailed directly to email@example.com and remember to keep checking your email for our response.
The regular application for assistance can be downloaded here and then emailed to LAPS. Please read the instructions and include ALL requested information with your application at the same time or we won't be able to review it.
If you need to see a Veterinarian, most offices are open but may have reduced hours for Coronavirus protocol, so call their office first! The Animal Shelter is still providing limited services even though they are closed to walk-in traffic...so call the Shelter at 970-668-3230 for more information.
Thanks for your cooperation and stay safe!
The Summit County Animal Shelter is accepting donations of dog/cat food to distribute to needy pets in our community. To the left is a photo of where you can either leave your donations or pick up free food (1 bag per person, please) for your dog or cat at the shelter.
To access: open the left drop box and quickly select your food (the right box is still available for overnight pet drops). Keep your social distancing!
Puppy smooches go out the wonderful staff at the Shelter for providing this service and for continuing the great job they do with caring for the shelter animals.
L.A.P.S.' mission is literally a matter of life or death - reducing pet overpopulation and needless euthanasia of healthy animals through spay/neuter programs and providing financial assistance to low-income families for veterinary services that will assure a happy, healthy life for their pets.
Need help with some veterinarian bills? Download our Assistance Form and check out the options under "About LAPS/Programs". Must live or work in Summit County to apply.
L.A.P.S. also offers Discount Vouchers for spay/neuter only for any income (must pick up voucher at the Summit County Animal Shelter in Frisco and show proof of residency - or work in Summit County - no application to fill out.) Vouchers must be used at a local veterinary office.
